Η κυβέρνηση ενέκρινε έναν νόμο που επιτρέπει στους αστυνομικούς και τους πυροσβέστες της Κύπρου να θέσουν υποψηφιότητα για το κοινοβούλιο. Πριν αυτό ήταν απαγορευμένο.
