Στην Κύπρο, ο πρώην πρόεδρος Γιώργος Βασιλείου πέθανε σε ηλικία ενενήντα τεσσάρων ετών. Ήταν ο τρίτος πρόεδρος της Κύπρου από το χίλια εννιακόσια ογδόντα οκτώ έως το χίλια εννιακόσια ενενήντα τρία και μετά ηγήθηκε των διαπραγματεύσεων για την είσοδο της Κύπρου στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.

In Cyprus, former president George Vassiliou has passed away at the age of 94. He was the third president of Cyprus from 1988 to 1993 and later led the negotiations for Cyprus's accession to the EU.
