Η πολιτική πίεση στην κυβέρνηση της Κύπρου αυξήθηκε μετά την κυκλοφορία μιας έκθεσης για την εκμετάλλευση εργασίας και σεξουαλική εκμετάλλευση γυναικών στην Αγία Νάπα. Ένας βουλευτής του κόμματος ΔΗΣΥ λέει ότι η κυβέρνηση Χριστοδουλίδη προσπαθεί να μειώσει τη σημασία της κρίσης με το να "κρύβει το θέμα της εμπορίας ανθρώπων κάτω από το χαλί."
