Η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση έχει συμπεριλάβει την περιοχή κοντά στη χερσόνησο Καρπασία σε ένα σχέδιο προστασίας για την προστασία ενός από τα πιο σπάνια θαλασσοπούλια, του Γλάρου του Αντουέν. Αυτός είναι ο μόνος τόπος αναπαραγωγής αυτού του είδους στην Κύπρο, και ο πληθυσμός τους μειώνεται.
Translation
The European Union has included the area near the Karpasia Peninsula in a conservation plan to protect one of the rarest seabirds, Audouin's Gull. This is the only breeding site for this species in Cyprus, and their population is declining.
